About Driftway Muscular Therapy
Founded in 2006 by Dan Bates, our office delivers evidence-based massage therapy that alleviates musculoskeletal discomfort while enhancing circulation, flexibility, and overall functional performance. The business is built on a foundation of providing affordable relief to the community while educating everyone on how to help take control of their own health. All of our massage therapists are fully-licensed and certified, and have extensive experience in multiple massage methods and modalities.

Dan Bates, LMT, BCTMB
Dan Bates, LMT, BCTMB, is a highly skilled and board-certified licensed massage therapist dedicated to delivering customized therapeutic treatments. A graduate of the Muscular Therapy Institute in Watertown, MA, Dan completed a rigorous 900-hour program emphasizing anatomy, physiology, pathology, clinical techniques, and professional ethics. He holds national certification through the NCBTMB, maintains active state licensure, and is a professional member in good standing with the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).
Committed to continuing education, Dan is certified in prenatal massage through the prestigious 36-hour Carole Osborne certification program, applying advanced anatomical knowledge to ensure a safe, nurturing environment for both mother and child. His clinical expertise also spans diverse modalities, including Swedish/relaxation massage, sports massage, trigger point therapy, and deep tissue techniques. By fluidly integrating these methods and adapting his pressure from gentle to deep, Dan designs bespoke therapeutic sessions tailored to each client's unique wellness goals. Prior to his career in bodywork, Dan earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bridgewater State University and spent a decade instructing children and adults in Kung Fu and Tai Chi in Cohasset, MA—foundational experiences that deeply enrich his holistic approach to movement, education, and patient care.
